Welcome visitors, friends and family to our website!

Gregg and I have had Labradors in our lives since the mid 80's. We purchased our first female from a breeder in Yucaipa and planned to breed "Molly" when the timing was right, not only for her but for us as well. We allowed her to have one litter, keeping one of her sons and sold her pups to good families. Molly and Buck had big hearts and kept us wrapped around their paws. At times we found ourselves singing the song, "If I Only Had a Brain" to Buck. Now we all know puppies get into mischief, but on this occasion it could have been more costly. Buck got "just a bit" bored on a day that Gregg and I both worked and I suppose Molly didn't care to baby-sit. He dug up the backyard, chewed through the main valves to a sprinkler system, and subsequently flooded our backyard and the connecting backyard to our landlady’s home. We fixed everything back to normal though making sure all PVC tubing was secure this time. That was probably the worst thing Buck ever did. Both dogs were great retrievers, the best company and more importantly members of our family. Molly was with us for over 13 years. Buck was with us for 12 years and when he left this earth I didn’t feel ready for another dog though we just knew we would all feel empty without one in our home.

Gregg heard of a breeder who had a spayed, two year old, black female Labrador. Her previous family returned her to the breeder because they could no longer keep her. We went to meet her and surprisingly enough brought her home. I knew in my heart she wasn't replacing our old dog, only to open a new chapter in our lives. Maya’s looks and mellow temperament was different from our other two labs. I believed she had to have another type of dog in her lines even though she was AKC registered. I didn't know at the time of the “English style Labrador”. We were so thrilled with her that within a couple of months we were back at the breeder’s home purchasing another black female. Maya and Mavis turned out to be great family dogs and Gregg’s best hunters.

In 2001, we moved to Oak Hills, located at the top of Cajon Pass in San Bernardino County and in 2003, we bred Mavis to “Living Waters My Buddy”. All her puppies went to great families and yet again, not resisting, we kept one for ourselves. “Oak Hills Hunters Mate” became a member of our family and has also turned out to be a great hunting buddy for Gregg. "Mate" has been OFE/OFA, Cerf tested and certified. He also has an AKC DNA Profile.

Throughout these last years, we have had a few planned litters with all puppies having great families to care for them. Some of these families have kept in touch with us by sending emails and updated photos (which we love to see). And others have inquired about purchasing another puppy from us. It takes lots of time in the care and planning of your puppy, but it surely pays off knowing that our buyers are happy and have trusted us to care for their new, long time friend. We thank you for all your emails.

In 2008, a new addition to our family was brought home from Lancaster. "Mac” is a yellow female and we have hopes of breeding her and “Mate” in the summer of 2010. She is very smart, has a beautiful look with a nice pedigree, and  for those of you who hunt, she has a terrific drive and instinct and was out hunting birds at one years old which couldn't have made Gregg happier!

All our Labradors have brought us many years of happiness and we will continue to have them in our lives.

DEDICATION TO OUR LABS

Oak Hills Hunters Labradors is just as dedicated to our own Labradors as they are to us. All our adult dogs are obedient; crate and kennel trained; they are a hunter’s companion and yet are wonderful family dogs. They love to play and roam on our five acres and yet when it’s kennel time, they come when called.

We are a small but very serious breeder of English type Labradors. Our definite goal is: to maintain and breed healthy English type Labrador retrievers not only for their gorgeous looks and physical condition but for their awesome temperaments. Our family puts a lot of love, care, consistency, and training into our dogs as well as our puppies. Training doesn’t take much time, just consistency. Our puppies are handled, loved, and cared for by all members of our family starting from the day they are born. We do this to make certain they develop a desire to be in contact with people; a very important stage in your puppy’s life. We strive to give them the best start in life. We give them everything they need to become well-adjusted and successful with their new families and homes.

When you choose one of our puppies, we are confident that you will continue investing the same love and care to insure both yours and your puppy’s happiness. This simple investment will give you a great beginning and the groundwork you both need to have a life long friendship for years to come. Be self-assured that whichever road you take with your new puppy, whether he will be a show, working/hunting dog or a loving family companion; know that we have made every effort to provide you with a healthy and happy dog that wants to please you in every way.

Enjoy our website. It not only includes photos of our Labradors but helpful information that we have successfully used throughout many years of having these wonderful companions. And please feel free to send any questions, comments, and/or helpful suggestions to:
